UWC Day is the global celebration of the UWC mission and values, celebrated on 21 September every year. It is celebrated by students and staff at UWC schools and colleges, national committees, UWC alumni and friends worldwide. UWC Day is a moment to celebrate the strength and diversity of the UWC movement and our mission for a more peaceful and sustainable future through connecting and mobilizing UWCers globally. It is also an opportunity to reflect on what we do as a movement, to determine how to be more effective changemakers, and to continue to challenge ourselves.

Each year, UWC Day has a different theme which helps to provide a central focus for the day’s actions and initiatives. For the year 2020, the UWC Day theme will be 'United We Can'. Global challenges have been building over the last few years. From the current health crisis of COVID-19 or the longer-term climate crisis, it is necessary that we turn towards each other rather than against each other. Because united we can overcome the many challenges the world is facing. It’s the only way.

Hence for this year's UWC Day 2020 in Timor-Leste, the UWC-NCTL is hosting a Creative Video Competition for the youth to take part in.

The criteria to participate:

1. For youth between the age of 15 to 19 years old
2. Either compete as individual or group (must come up with a group name)
3. The video must reflect the theme "United We Can"
4. The video must be between 1 to 2 minutes long 

The video has to contain an action you have done or are planning to do to solve a challenge or problem. Once your video is ready, upload them on your Facebook account and include hashtags #uwctimorleste #uwcnctl #uwcday2020 #unitedwecan for us to find it. You can also send the video to our Facebook page "UWC National Committee of Timor-Leste" via message. The final date for the competition is 14 September 2020.

Winners will be selected by the UWC-NCTL and will receive food vouchers as prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd winners. The winners will be announced on 21 September 2020.
