Congratulations to Timor-Leste UWCers

10 June 2017

A big applause for the three UWCers from Timor-Leste who have just graduated from Colleges/Universities: Flora Ximenes Brites, Prudêncio Ribeiro Cabral and Milca da Conceição Baptista. The three of them are the first Timorese Students to have graduated from Colleges/Universities in the US.

Flora Ximenes Brites attended UWCSEA (United World College of South East Asia), Singapore, in 2005. Then she proceeded for her undergraduate program at Westminster College, Missouri, in 2007. Flora was majoring in Biochemistry. Milca da Conceição Baptista attended Methodist University, North Carolina. She did her IB program at Armand Hammer United World College, USA. Milca was the first one to attend UWC-USA. She was majoring in Marketing for her undergraduate program. Prudêncio Ribeiro Cabral went to Lake Forest College, Illinois, in 2007. He was a Li Po Chun United World College, Hong Kong, alumnus. He took Communication as his major.

UWC offers opportunities for Undergraduate program at US Colleges/Universities. However, not all colleges/universities offer scholarships to UWC alumni; however Davis United World College Scholar Program does. The aim of the program is to promote international understanding through education by providing financial support for UWC alumni.

Davis United World College Scholar Program sees UWC students as potentially capable youths. Moreover, the purpose of the program is related to  the UWC mission statement, “UWC makes education a force to unite people, nations and cultures for peace and a sustainable future.” To find out more about the program, click here.
