UWC Scholar Profile: Lusitania Fernandes

10 June 2017

Pia is one of the UWC Scholars from Timor Leste. She received UWC scholarship in 2012. Now she is in her second year at UWCad (ITALY). We asked her to tell us what she thinks of UWC and share with us some her experiences during her first year at UWCad. Read below!

“Congratulation Lusitania, you get accepted for UWC scholarship and you are going to UWCad in Italy”.

Yayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy……. That was one of the best moment I’ve ever had in my life! And one thing that came right away in to my mind after knowing that I got accepted was that “My life adventure has just started.”
UWC is like a life adventure to me because, being a UWC student, indirectly, I’ve been travelling to so many countries that I’ve never even thought about. UWC brings students from so many countries all over the world. I get the chance to discover the culture of those countries from its students and also some other amazing things about those countries. And UWC is also about giving me an opportunity to introduce my country, its culture, its food and so on, to other UWC students.

It was quite sad when I found out that there are actually still so many people from all over the world who don’t know Timor Leste yet, even then I was still proud to tell them that I am from this tiny and lovely country called Timor-Leste. But positive outcome of it is that, literally, I become an ambassador of my own country at UWC even if I have to explain to the other students where my country is, what it is like and some other cool things about Timor Leste. And I am proud to have this opportunity to be the ambassador from my nation at this awesome place called UWC!

I LOVE UWC AND I AM PROUD TO BE A UWC STUDENT!
